Voltigeur and Russborough cross the post together at Doncaster, Alken freezing the one result nobody could yet call. A dead heat for the St Leger was rare enough to be news in itself; the run-off that finally settled it came after, which is why this picture holds a result the crowd hadn't got yet. the two horses' noses level to the same inch, the entire composition built on that single measurement. Some finishes refuse to choose.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
