A breeder's sheet lines up the American trotting stud's sires and dams, Flora Temple among them alongside Mambino Pilot. Flora Temple was already a legend by the time this sheet was printed — the first trotter to beat 2:20 for the mile — and breeders bought prints like this one hoping her speed would carry into the next generation. each horse posed separately in its own frame, arranged more like a catalogue than a single scene. A pedigree is a bet placed years before the race.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
