A row of celebrated trotters stand at ease in an idealized stable while their gentlemen owners look them over. Thomas Worth built much of his career on this exact scene for Currier & Ives, because owning a famous trotter, not necessarily racing one, was the point for most of the print's buyers. the fussy grooming detail — brushed coats, plaited tails — on horses that are, in this picture, doing nothing but standing still. A stable can be a portrait gallery.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
