The FAP’s poster division sold the ticket stub with the same confident flats it sold the library card and the national park — reading and the stage, funded as public good, for an all-Black company mounting Shakespeare in Harlem in 1936. Lettering doing all the work — no illustration, just type built like architecture. The stage, subsidized and unashamed of it.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
