The heath runs flat and nearly empty to the horizon, its rubbing-down house the only building and the only incident in the whole canvas. Stubbs painted the working ground of the turf — not a race, not a horse, just the heath and its one plain shed — with the same gravity he gave a portrait, because to him the Heath was where the real work of training happened. The sheer amount of sky given over to nothing — Stubbs lets the emptiness argue for itself. A landscape can be a kind of stable.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
