Two horses loiter loose in a paddock, weight settled, heads low, no tack and no occasion. Stubbs painted horses at rest as readily as horses at speed, on the conviction that the animal's true structure showed itself best when nothing was being asked of it. The near horse's hind leg is cocked and resting — the give in the joint that only an anatomist bothers to paint correctly. Nothing happening is still something to study.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
