Years after the wars that made him famous, a small grey Arab charger stands alert and riderless. Marengo carried Napoleon through several campaigns and was small enough — barely over fourteen hands — that his survival past Waterloo, and his capture into England, made him as much a legend as any general Ward could have painted instead. Faint scars mark the flank — Ward doesn't hide the wear a campaign horse actually carries. Some horses outlive the empires that rode them.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
