Cursed to see the world only in a mirror, the Lady of Shalott dared to look directly at Sir Lancelot — and, knowing it doomed her, loosed her boat and drifted down the river toward Camelot, singing, to die. Waterhouse catches the last moment: the tapestry of her lost life trailing in the water, three candles (two already guttered), her lips parted on the final note. It is Pre-Raphaelite painting at its most bewitching — Tennyson’s poem made flesh — and a natural companion to any lover of myth and legend.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
