The best-known image in the entire manuscript: the Duc de Berry himself, in blue robes trimmed in fur, seated before a roaring fire at his New Year's feast, urging his guests to "aproche, aproche" beneath a woven tapestry depicting a battle. Behind him, gold and silver vessels from his famous collection — a golden ship-shaped nef, salt cellars, cups — are piled on a credenza, an unmistakable display of Valois wealth. Above the scene, a lunette shows the zodiac wheel and the Duke's chariot of the sun for Capricorn and Aquarius. This is medieval court life at its most specific and least allegorical: real courtiers, a real dog on the table, a real household caught mid-gesture, painted with an observational precision that points forward toward the Renaissance.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
