John Flamsteed was England's first Astronomer Royal, and his great atlas — published a decade after his death — was the largest and most magnificent of its century, its constellation figures drawn with Baroque grandeur by a painter of the royal court. Where earlier atlases prized compactness, Flamsteed's prized splendour, each figure sweeping across a huge plate in robes and sinew. The culmination of two centuries of celestial cartography, and the last word before the age of pure scientific austerity set in.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
