See pieces like it you can buyA child rides a white horse beneath a great radiant sun, a red banner streaming, sunflowers rising over a garden wall. Pamela Colman Smith drew it in 1909 as the deck's plainest joy — the card of daylight and the uncovered. The sun's face looks straight out, its rays alternating straight and wavy. Smith gave the whole deck this warmth in a matter of months for a flat fee, and history kept her name in shadow for the better part of a century. Look for the four sunflowers, the child's feather, and the small 'PCS' monogram at the lower edge of the plate.
