A shrub from the sand plains of Western Australia, drawn on the Flinders voyage and engraved for the Illustrationes — the book Bauer published himself, at his own expense, because no publisher would take on plates that expensive. Fifteen parts were planned. Three appeared. He engraved them personally, because he could not find an engraver who would not coarsen the line. The finest botanical book of the century was abandoned because it was too good to sell.
