Priscilla Bury painted the lilies and amaryllis of her own garden on some of the largest botanical plates ever made — great hand-coloured aquatints so vivid the flowers seem to lean out of the paper. A gentlewoman's private passion that became one of the most magnificent flower books of the age. Printed large, as she intended, it is overwhelming in exactly the way she meant it to be.
