This is an angel dressed as a Spanish grandee, carrying not a sword but a harquebus — the matchlock gun of the Habsburg infantry. Eliel is one of dozens of named archangels painted by Cusco workshops from apocryphal angel-lists that circulated through the colonial Andes, far beyond the four archangels scripture actually names. The costume is the point: plumed hat, lace collar, silk breeches, a gun held at parade rest. Nothing like it exists in European religious painting — arming an angel with contemporary Spanish weaponry and calling it heaven's militia is an Andean invention, likely reading imperial firepower back onto the side of God after generations of it being used against Andean people. Notice the stillness of the pose against the violence of the object in his hands — that tension is the whole painting.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
