The west wall of Room L of the Villa of P. Fannius Synistor at Boscoreale, companion to the great cubiculum. A faithful reproduction of a public-domain work in The Metropolitan Museum (CC0); a genuine Roman wall. The red is the very colour the whole house borrows. A room preserved by the catastrophe that ended it.
