A round marble café table at dusk, a knocked-over glass, red wine running into the blue evening light, a folded paper, a saucer — loose Impressionist strokes. The Belle Époque café hour, caught the way the Impressionists caught everything: fast, warm, already leaving. The blue is the evening; the red is what is left of the afternoon. Every café closes on a spill or a promise.
