A Pathé Frères affiche of 1907 for the actuality Course de taureaux à Séville, drawn and printed at the Atelier Faria. Before the feature film existed, Pathé sold the world itself — bullfights, coronations, foreign streets — as short actualities, and the poster was the only colour the audience would see. These sheets are the surviving evidence of how travel and spectacle were marketed when the films themselves were three minutes long. The lithograph is credited to the Atelier Faria as printer as well as designer — a single Paris workshop doing the drawing, the stone and the press. The whole world for the price of a ticket, and a poster to prove it.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
