A German lithographed film placard of 1921 designed by Walter Riemer, surviving in the collection of the Deutsche Kinemathek in Berlin. Weimar cinema's fantastic register and its criminal register were the same industry, staffed by the same designers and served by the same printing houses. Sheets like this one show the everyday commercial ground out of which the famous horror campaigns rose. This is by a wide margin the highest-resolution sheet in the group. The scan resolves the individual lithographic dots and the weave of the paper stock itself. An ordinary night's advertising, preserved with extraordinary care.
