Theo Matejko, 1924

See pieces like it you can buyTheo Matejko's 1924 poster for the first film of Fritz Lang's Die Nibelungen, Siegfried. Lang's monumental two-part saga turned Germanic myth into vast, hieratic imagery of forests, dragons and doomed dynasties. Notice the stylised, almost heraldic flattening of figure and landscape into pattern. Legend carved into stillness.
