The 1915 Italian poster for Filibus, produced by Corona Films of Turin, held in the EYE Filmmuseum's poster collection. Filibus is an aerial jewel-thief who descends from an airship on a winch, moves through society in male disguise, and outwits the detective hunting her. Made a year after Feuillade's Fantômas, it hands the master-criminal role to a woman — a gesture Italian cinema made casually and almost nobody repeated for decades. The dirigible is given more of the sheet than the figure; in 1915 the airship itself was still the marvel being sold. The future arriving by balloon, with a thief aboard.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
