Honolulu, in the Golden-Age Airline tradition (1950s to 1960s). Flat gouache colour, a low sun, and the place cut into a few bold shapes, as if seen from the window on the way down. The Departure Board drew it from the place’s own motifs (volcanic headland, surfboards, palm beach), then set the name in Yellowtail, a real typeface, so the letters print as cleanly as the paper allows. The rule it keeps: No airline name, wordmark, livery or aircraft maker. No hand of a poster artist still in copyright. The plane, if there is one, belongs to nobody.
