A Pathé demi-grande affiche of 1919 for the second part of Abel Gance's J'accuse, drawn by the poster artist Ferdinand Misti-Mifliez. Gance shot parts of J'accuse with serving French soldiers on leave from the front, many of whom were killed before the film was released. Its closing march of the dead is the first great anti-war sequence in cinema, and this sheet is how the film was put to a country still counting its losses in 1919. Misti built his reputation on Belle Époque cycle posters; the elegant commercial line he perfected selling bicycles is turned here to mourning. An accusation, printed in the first year of the peace.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
