See pieces like it you can buyA French affiche of 1926 for the comedy Paris en cinq jours, designed by Boris Bilinsky. Bilinsky arrived in Paris with the Albatros émigrés and became the most sought-after film poster designer in France, later drawing the celebrated French Metropolis sheets. His work marks the point where the affiche stopped illustrating scenes and started composing graphic design. Flat colour shapes doing the work that drawn detail did twenty years earlier — the whole poster is built from silhouette and typography. A city seen by someone who arrived as a refugee and stayed to draw it.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
