A 1922 colour lithograph poster, about 105 by 72 centimetres, for the Cecil B. DeMille production for Paramount. DeMille's early-twenties cycle of marriage-and-manners pictures invented a durable commercial formula: preach restraint, photograph luxury. This sheet is that bargain made visible, promising both the transgression and the moral. The class contrast staged inside the composition — costume and setting doing the plot summary that the copy line avoids. Luxury as the warning and the lure at once.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
