A 1912 colour lithograph poster whose printed title runs, in full, as a one-sentence synopsis of the picture. Before stars and before recognisable genres, a poster had to teach a passer-by what the film was. The result is this - advertising that reads like a catalogue entry, a habit that vanished within a few years as audiences learned the shorthand.
