A fresco wall from Room H of the Villa of P. Fannius Synistor at Boscoreale, buried by the eruption of 79 AD and recovered whole. A faithful reproduction of a public-domain work in The Metropolitan Museum (CC0) — a genuine Roman wall, the same age and world as the Villa of the Mysteries frieze. The entire room is an illusion: columns, gates and vistas painted onto a flat wall. The Romans painted the view they wished they had.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
