A terracotta kantharos — the tall two-handled cup that is Dionysos’ personal attribute — formed as the heads of a satyr and a woman. A faithful reproduction of a public-domain work in The Metropolitan Museum (CC0), attributed to Aison. The house adds nothing; the line is the fifth century’s. Drink to the bottom and the two faces are all that is left. Every cup has two sides: the beast and the beauty.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
