The stage actor Albert Brasseur raises a glass with a woman at a café table — a "healthful," oxygenated absinthe pitched on the same tonic-water logic every other absinthe house was using by the 1890s. Belgium banned absinthe in 1905, years ahead of France; this line and the house that sold it went with it. The theatrical endorsement — a real actor's face selling the glass, a full decade before the modern celebrity-endorsement ad existed as a category. The health claim didn't save it. Nothing did.
