A distillery outside Paris sold its absinthe on a wink of a tagline — "Bois donc, tu verras après" ("Drink up, you'll see after") — one of the more knowing pieces of copywriting the Green Hour produced. A small regional house, gone with the rest of the category once the bans closed in. The tagline itself — absinthe advertising rarely admitted, even jokingly, that the drink changed how you saw things. This one did, right on the sheet. The joke got a laugh for twenty years. Then the law wasn't laughing.
