An 1864 advertising lithograph for Congress Bourbon, drawn and printed by E. Ackermann — a Civil-War-era American whiskey mark. The Congress Bourbon mark is long defunct, with no modern revival; like the Bininger pieces it predates this collection's core window but the same dead-mark doctrine applies. The lithographer's own credit — 'E. Ackermann, del. & lith.' — printed on the sheet, from the era when the artist and the printer were often the same hand. Older than the drought, and gone just as completely.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
