The 9th of June, 1924, at Colombes: Uruguay 3, Switzerland 0, in front of a crowd that had spent a fortnight discovering a kind of football it did not know existed. The Olympic tournament was the world championship in all but name, and Uruguay — a country of a million and a half people who had crossed the Atlantic by boat and paid their way with exhibition matches — won it playing the most technically advanced game anyone in Europe had seen. Six years later they hosted and won the first World Cup. This is where that began. The first world championship was won by a country of a million and a half.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
