An Edwin Marcus editorial cartoon for the New York Times, skewering the federal government's ability to police the Canadian border against bootleggers. The Dry Years' honesty runs both directions — the era produced its own contemporary skeptics, and this is one, in ink. The cartoon logic — enforcement as a leaking sieve — visualized three years before Repeal was even a live political idea. The joke was on the law, and everyone already knew it.

Before a size goes on sale, the file is measured against it: pixels per inch at that size, how much of the picture a crop would lose, tone and sharpness. A size that fails is not offered, so there is nothing to choose wrong.
